An unintended expat blogger behind LatticeCanvasGentle

Hey, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt tougher than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.
Why I Built LatticeCanvasGentle
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Covers (And Doesn’t)
This site DOES:
- Practical insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site DOES NOT:
- Serve as a tourism bureau resource
- Function as a sponsored review platform
- Be a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, along with the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep noting what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
